Earthquake Assignment
Earthquakes with 1,000 or More Deaths since 1990 and Richter Scale Assignment Grade: /15 points (minor assignment) Construct a table in Numbers (or Excel) that tabulates the Location, Deaths and Magnitude (Richter Scale) for the earthquakes that have happened since 1990. Refer to the website here, which is also on your wikispace (http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/world/world_deaths_sort.php )Produce a scattergraph (If you don’t know what this is, you can find it on the internet) from the data, plotting the number of deaths against the magnitude. The software program will most likely do this for you, but you will have to learn how. Is there a relationship between the magnitude (Richter Scale) of an earthquake and the number of deaths it causes? Be sure to respond in a single paragraph. Bonus points (2): Add the most recent information on the earthquake that just hit Haiti. Due date: Next class. Use your class time wisely.
